Family Involvement

IL Family Council Project

Illinois Family Council Project Index Page

Family members and direct care staff members in nursing homes have a lot in common. Both are interested in ensuring that nursing home residents enjoy the best possible care and quality of life. In order to build on this natural connection, NCCNHR has partnered with Illinois Citizens’ for Better Care (ICBC) to help family members of nursing home residents in Illinois to organize family councils. Family councils work together to improve the care of their loved ones by resolving common concerns with facility management, improving communication with direct care staff, advocating for improved staffing levels and opportunities, supporting each other, and sponsoring activities.
